Election 2015

 As of Thursday, October 22, 2015, the County Clerk's office has received 2070 Mail Ballots out of 11,891 sent.  If you have not received your ballot, it is time to call the Clerk's Office at 719.539.4004.

We appreciate receiving voted ballots early so our election judges can start processing.  The earlier ballots are returned, the earlier election night results can be released.  We have a new 24 hour a day, seven day a week ballot drop-box located curbside at the Courthouse Administrative Building, 104 Crestone Avenue in Salida. In Buena Vista, the new 24/7 drop-box is located outside the Motor Vehicle Branch Office at 112 Linderman Avenue.

Returning your voted mail ballot through the Post Office requires one first class stamp. If you choose to mail your ballot, postmarks do not apply for Election Day.  All ballots must be received by the Chaffee County Clerk and Recorder's Office by 7:00 p.m. on November 3, 2015.

Voters can check their mail ballot status online.  If you would like to verify that your ballot was received by our office, you can log onto or you can contact our office at 719.539.4004.

We have two Vote Centers to serve voters for this election, one in Salida and one in Buena Vista.  The Salida Vote Center is located in the main Clerk's Office at the Courthouse Administrative Building, 104 Crestone Avenue.  The Buena Vista Vote Center opens on Monday, October 26th and is located at the Motor Vehicle Branch Office at 112 Linderman Avenue.  Visit one of these Vote Centers if you need a replacement mail ballot, wish to vote a paper ballot in-person, register to vote or update your registration, or vote on an accessible voting machine.

Both Vote Centers are open Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Saturday, October 31st from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., and on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, 2015, from 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Please note that our Motor Vehicle Offices in Salida and Buena Vista will be closed on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 so staff can support election activities.
