STARTING JULY 1, 2009 CHAFFEE COUNTY BUILDING SAFETY DEPARTMENT WILL BE ENFORCING THE INSTALLATION OF CARBON MONOXIDE ALARMS IN STRUCTURES AS OUTLINED IN STATE OF COLORADO HOUSE BILL NO. 09-1091, THEREBY A CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY WILL NOT BE ISSUED WITHOUT THE INSTALLATION AND INSPECTION OF SUCH CARBON MONOXIDE ALARM.

Building permits are issued by the Chaffee County Building Safety and Environmental Health Division for all construction within unincorporated Chaffee County and the City of Salida, Town of Buena Vista and the Town of Poncha Springs.
