The Finance Office is responsible for establishing the County budget under the direction of the County Commissioners, paying of County generated bills, Human Resources and payroll, Personnel policy, County waste disposal, accounts receivable, and accounts payable. Chaffee County sales and use taxes are administrated by the Colorado Department of Revenue. You may contact CDOR for information regarding collection guidelines, licensure, reporting and compliance.
Due to the passage of Chaffee County Ballot Issue 1A, the following change will be effective January 1, 2019:
In addition to the existing two percent (2.5%) countywide sales tax and in accordance with the provisions of C.R.S. 29-2-103 & 105, there is imposed an additional countywide sales tax of 0.25% on the sale at retail of tangible personal property and the furnishing of services in the County so that the overall sales tax rate is increased from 2.5% to 2.75%.
